Specialty Doctor in Oncology

Job Description:

HCL International has fantastic job opportunities for middle grade doctors with experience in Oncology to work in a large NHS Trust based in West Midlands.

The post holder will be a key individual in the haematology/oncology unit responsible for the day to day medical cover for the day case unit. The main function of this area is the delivery of chemotherapy to both oncology and haematology patients, other functions include blood transfusions, other intravenous therapies (e.g. bisphosphonate, IV iron, IVIg) and managing complications of these therapies. These responsibilities are shared with another specialty doctor and together with two foundation year one doctors this team will provide middle grade and junior cover to oncology patients both on the day case unit and the ward area and to haematology patients who attend the day unit. Clinical supervision is provided by visiting consultant oncologists and tenured consultant haematologists.

The development of a specialist interest will be encouraged, including attendance at appropriate MDTs and appropriate opportunities for professional development will be provided. Involvement in undergraduate and post graduate medical and nursing education will be expected, the degree dependent on the interests of the post holder. There may be opportunities for involvement in clinical research.

Requirements:

• Full GMC registration
• Previous experience in oncology or haematology.
