Job Description:

HCL International has fantastic opportunities to appoint Specialty Doctors in A&E to join a large NHS Trust located in central England.

This is a fixed-term 12 months Specialty Doctor appointment in Emergency Medicine.

The appointee will work 9 programmed activities of direct clinical care. In addition, 1 programmed activity per week will be allowed for supporting professional activities i.e. audit, clinical governance, personal administration, Continuing Professional Development. Up to a further 2 temporary additional PAs can be negotiated depending on service needs.

The appointee will be expected to work as part of a team with a responsibility to maintain the highest standards of emergency clinical care.

Duties and Responsibilities

Whilst on duty the appointee will be clinically and professionally responsible for their patients. It will also be their duty to:
  • keep patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) informed about their condition;
  • involve patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) in decision making about their treatment;
  • maintain professional standards and obligations as set out from time to time by the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply in particular with the GMC's guidance on ”˜Good Medical Practice' as amended or substituted from time to time;
  • ”carry out any work related to and reasonably incidental to the duties set out in their Job Plan e.g. the keeping of records and the provision of reports, the proper delegation of tasks, maintaining skills and knowledge.
The starting salary of the appointment will be the appropriate threshold on the Specialty Doctor pay scales ranging from £33,839 - £63,240 (or the appropriate transition scale).

Requirements:
  • Eligible for Full GMC registration, with a Licence to Practice, at time of appointment;
  • 4 years post registration experience including 2 years A&E
  • Capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job.
  • Experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk.
  • Shows aptitude for practical skills, required in the job.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in different clinical settings.
