Job Description:CONSULTANT ORTHODONTISTHCL International is currently recruiting for a Consultant Orthodontist to be based in a friendly NHS Trust based in the West Midlands.
The post has become vacant due to the relocation of the current post holder. The clinical duties of the post include treatment of patients, undertaking case assessments and treatment planning for new patients. The appointee is also expected to take part in joint clinics with Oral and maxillo-facial surgeons for the management of multi-disciplinary cases involving minor / major oral surgery and also provide support to the junior members of staff within the Orthodontic team.
Orthodontic DepartmentThe orthodontic department provides a comprehensive orthodontic service.
There are two surgeries available for Orthodontics. There is an on-site Orthodontic Laboratory and the department has its own waiting, reception and secretarial areas. Models and records are stored in the department itself.
The Orthodontic department is one of the centres taking part in the training of Specialist Registrars and Clinical Assistants in Orthodontics in West Midlands.
Last year they received over 300 new patient referrals from the local referring specialist and general dental practitioners. The department accepts and treats IOTN categories 4 and 5 for treatment. A large volume of these patients require complex multidisciplinary orthodontic care. However more routine orthodontic cases are undertaken for training purposes where appropriate.
Main Duties of the Post- Undertake all clinical duties including seeing new patients, continue patient treatments and joint clinics
- Active participation in Clinical Audit
- Administrative duties associated with clinical work
- Follow National and Local guidelines and protocols
- Active participation in CME
- Provide advice to referring practitioners on clinical matters
Interested candidates need to be on the GDC Specialist Register in Orthodontics.
