Job Description:Consultant Anaesthetist in LONDON
HCL International recruits an Anaesthetist Consultant fulltime permanent post on behalf of a well known NHS Treatment Centre based in London.
London NHS Treatment Centre provides high-quality specialist care for the people of North East London. It covers day case surgery and in-patient surgery for four disciplines: Orthopedics, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Oral Surgery.
The post holder is expected to provide the full range of anaesthetic and medical care necessary to meet the needs of patients under the care of the London NHS Treatment Centre. The job will be full time based on 9 sessions of 5 hours working time per week (equivalent to 45 hours per week) and this will comprise 8 sessions allocated to clinical duties and 1 session to the on-call commitment per week. However, working patterns will be flexible and will entail an ad-hoc mix of evenings and weekend work to meet the requirements of the unit.
The post is for minimum 1 year and maximum 5 years.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Post- To carry out necessary duties to ensure the best and most cost effective treatment of patients.
- To provide a full range of specialist diagnosis, treatment and care to inpatients, day cases and outpatients who require anaesthetic services and ensure anaesthetic care which is responsive to patient needs and to changes in workload.
- To undertake pre and post operative assessment of patients - this includes but is not limited to, providing good quality written information to the patient's GP in the event of return to the NHS as unsuitable for treatment within the ISTC or outlining what further management is required before the patient can be treated within the ISTC in the case of temporary suspension.
- To provide first line senior medical support to the RMOs, both within normal working hours and as part of the on-call rota.
- To participate in the Centre's audit and clinical governance programme.
Requirements:- To be on the Specialist Register (Anaesthesia) of the GMC or to be in the process of obtaining it.
- 10 years of qualified experience at Consultant level
- Ability to lead a team.
- Able to conduct a clinical audit.
- Up to date with recent professional developments
- Experience in regional anaesthesia, epidural and spinal anaesthesia.
- Ability to teach clinical and practical skills.
- Ability to communicate well with patients and staff, both orally and in writing.
