Clinical Planning Consultant - Cardiopulmonary and Interventional Services

Our Client based in the beautiful city of Doha, Qatar are seeking a Senior Clinical Planning Consultant, Quality with experience in the Cardiopulmonary and Interventional Services for a Fixed Term Contract of 2 to 3 years.

Job Summary
The Clinical Planning Consultant, Cardiopulmonary and Interventional Services will be primarily responsible for the planning of the Cardiopulmonary Services (Respiratory Thearpy, Sleep Lab, non-invasive Cardiac Cath Lab, NeuroDiagnostics Lab) and Interventional Laboratories, including the intraoperative suites (iMR, hybrid Cardiac OR), interventional Imaging with CT and Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories. S/he is also responsible for the related facilities planning, equipment planning, departmental operations planning, staff planning and development, resource management, financial planning, legal and regulatory requirements and IT systems implementation. S/he identifies "best practice" in the Cardiopulmonary and Interventional Services area through primary and secondary research.

Key Accountabilities

May include the following as assigned:
  • Defines the service model and scope of service.
  • Identifies "best practice" through primary and secondary research
  • Assesses the impact of the current design on patient/work flows and define high level IT requirements
  • Reviews schematic designs and develops detailed room design specifications.
  • Develops and IT strategy and key requirements for the LIS system and Interventional Lab services
  • Assesses the impact of clincal services "ramp up" on on department services (including equipment selection and procurement)
  • Defines staffing needs (mix, educational requirements, etc) and servicing options.
  • Defines on-going departmental operations including projected volumes/utilization, service goals, service standards, hours of operation, productivity goals, supply chain needs/requirements and information technology needs.
  • Develops departmental policies and procedures and produces work flows and forms
  • Develops Quality Assurance and Risk Management programs
  • Defines Commissioning strategy for implementation of Interventional Lab services
  • Determines overall operating requirements including major fixed equipment and equipment / supplier
  • Develops education, learning and development documents
  • Provides feedback and input to continued design activities
  • Develops and prepares reports/presentations on behalf of the Clinical Planning team and the larger planning process.
  • Coordinates the clinical project plan activities as outlined by the clinical Planning Project Director and/or the Senior Clinical Planning Consultant; defines objectives strategies and studies
  • Provides back up coverage for other Clinical Planning Consultants where necessary
  • In view of the developing and changing needs and opportunities with our client during their start up phase, this position may perform other duties as assigned
Experience and Skills required
  • A minimum of 5 years Management or Supervisory experience in a full function Interventional Cardiac Catheter Lab, to include paediatric diagnostic and interventional services, in a western academic/teaching healthcare environment
  • A Licensed Cardiovascular Technologist or industry equivalent.
  • Recent experience with design, planning of cardiopulmonary staff and equipment
  • Experience with Cath and/or EP Lab commissioning
  • A working knowledge of JCI accreditation and familiarity with Joint Commission (USA) Standards
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including MS Access required
  • Fluency in oral and written English
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and team facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity and changeable conditions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Working Conditions
  • Work is normally performed in a busy open office environment
  • Manual dexterity required
  • Flexibility in working hours required to meet demanding deadlines
  • Driving to area hospitals and offices may be required
